Proxies for web scraping at any scale

Web scraping collects public pages automatically. A proxy spreads those requests over many IP addresses so each one looks like a normal visitor, and lets you see the page from the country your data is about.

Picking the proxy type

Start with datacenter proxies for sites that accept automated traffic and APIs: they are the fastest and cost from $0.58/IP per IP for a month with unlimited traffic. Move to rotating residential proxies when a site answers server addresses with captchas or different content; every request then leaves from a household IP in the country you set.

For crawls that move tens of gigabytes a day, the unlimited residential plan fixes the cost per day ($41.53 for one day) so you can run at full speed.

Rotation, sessions and concurrency

Use rotation for list and search pages, where each request is independent. Use a sticky session (add -session-name to the username, kept up to 60 minutes) for flows that span several pages, such as paging through results that rely on cookies.

Concurrency is set by your scraper, not by the plan: open as many connections as your tool handles. Keep request rates polite per domain and respect each site's terms and robots rules for the data you collect.

Estimating traffic

An average HTML page is 100 to 500 KB without images. Blocking images, fonts and video in your headless browser often cuts traffic by more than half. A 50 GB residential pack ($99.50) covers roughly 150,000 to 400,000 light pages.

  • Fetch HTML only where you can
  • Reuse sessions for paginated flows
  • Retry on a new IP after a block, not on the same one
